John P. Wheatley

Director

John P. Wheatley is an noted director, producer, and the visionary force behind Dominion Global, known for his powerful storytelling and dynamic visual artistry. As a seasoned cinematographer, John has crafted compelling visuals for global giants such as Netflix, Viacom, CBS, Urban One, YouTube Studios, Lancôme, Lexus North America, Rawlings Baseball, Jesse Collins Entertainment, and more. His expertise also shines through in his pivotal work on five seasons of BET’s Sunday Best.

With over two decades of experience, John has seamlessly directed, edited, and produced content across major cable networks, top-tier corporations, and independent projects, amassing an impressive 100 million digital views in just the past three years.

As an Executive Producer, John’s impact extends beyond the screen. He produced the highest-grossing Carnival DVD in the U.S. Virgin Islands and spearheaded the region’s most successful live comedy event, Laughter in Paradise, featuring renowned comedians Bruce Bruce, Michael Blackson, and Cedric The Entertainer.

In the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, John founded Virgin Islands United (VIU)—a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Virgin Islanders in recovery efforts and fostering long-term community resilience. This commitment to his roots comes full circle in his latest documentary, What the Storms Taught Us.

John also established and designed the first-ever Virgin Islands Film Academy in collaboration with the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE), where he served as Program Director. In this role, he was instrumental in creating a dynamic platform to nurture the next generation of Virgin Islands filmmakers and storytellers, empowering students to find their voice through the art of film.

Splitting his time between Atlanta’s creative hub and the picturesque landscapes of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, John draws inspiration from both vibrant cultures. He is a proud alumnus of Full Sail University, where he honed his craft and launched a career dedicated to transforming stories into lasting cultural moments while amplifying voices from his community.

Yvette A. Broughton is an accomplished producer, qualitative researcher, and narrative strategist dedicated to using storytelling as a catalyst for social change. As the producer of What the Storms Taught Us, Yvette played a pivotal role in shaping the film’s narrative and leading its impact campaign, focusing on themes of government accountability, community resilience, and systemic recovery in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In addition to film production, Yvette is the co-founder of King Culture Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to leadership development, personal growth, and community transformation. Through King Culture’s signature program, the Plan for Longevity (P4L) Apprenticeship, Yvette helps equip young men with the skills, mentorship, and resources needed to thrive both personally and professionally.

As the founder of Purple Sky Creative, Yvette brings her passion for narrative change and media advocacy to life through powerful, purpose-driven projects that amplify underrepresented voices.

With a strong background in qualitative research, Yvette specializes in narrative change, participatory inquiry, and conflict transformation, exploring how stories shape cultural perceptions and influence systems of power. Her research bridges the worlds of media, community advocacy, and social justice, focusing on intra-group conflict, identity, and transformative learning within Black communities.
